Slovenia-born Alpine World Cup skier Tina Maze is the current Giant Slalom champ and skiing pundits predict she may just give reigning queen Lindsey Vonn a run for her money this year for the overall title. Off the slopes, Maze (pronounced MAH-zeh) is a bit of a pop star.
A classically trained musician, she dipped into music last month with her newly released song and video, “My Way is My Decision,” featuring lots of pumping beats and ski gear. The song is topping the charts in her home country and the video has already received over 800,000 hits on YouTube. Check it out here.

In Giant Slalom, Tina won gold, and the last place finisher was Vanessa Mae (the Violin player) Vanakorn (Thailand), a very successful techno-pop violinist in Great Britain, where she grew up. Both classically trained musicians into pop music. Another tie; Vanessa barely qualified for the Olympics by competing in Tina’s home, Slovenia at the last minute. Vanessa, in an interview, mentioned that she had met Tina. When will we see these two in concert together, now that Tina is saying this will be here last Olympics?
