A Few of Our Favorite (Eco) Things

Don’t you just love Earth Day? We simply can’t get enough. This day of planetary passion renewed our fervor for single-stream recycling, local foods, riding our bike, setting up that compost bin in the back yard—and for some ultra-cool eco-inspired products we’ve come across lately. Here, in honor of this week of the Earth, a few of our favorite things.

Patagonia Advocate Mary Jane: Billed as a lightweight camp shoe or travel companion, this super-comfy slip-on packs some serious eco cred. The vegan-friendly Advocate MJ (shown above, $70) boasts a 50%-recycled mesh lining, a 15%-recycled insole, and a gripping 20% recycled rubber sole. Emblazoned with the 1% for the Planet logo on the footbed and back pull loops (which also conveniently clip to your pack)—Patagonia is a founding member of this do-good non-profit—this shoe walks the walk.

Zeal Optics Tofino Sunglass with e-llume Eco Lens: Equipped with the world’s first lens crafted from plant-based materials, these shades truly up the ante in the sunglass arena. Available for purchase online and in stores starting May 1st, Zeal’s Tofino (shown, $139) delivers crisp, petroleum-free optics and an earth-friendly design engineered with Zeal’s Z-resin, a plant-based material. These specs are decidedly comfortable (we love them for mountain biking and trail running), style-focused, and guilt-free.

Liberty Bottleworks Shoe Revolt: This drinking bottle ($19) is not only made in the USA in a zero-waste factory, it’s crafted of high-quality recycled aluminum. A perfect solution since 8 out of 10 plastic water bottles still end up in landfills today. Even better is that Liberty donates the proceeds from this particular bottle to Shoe Revolt, an organization that sells donated shoes online to raise money for programs and organizations that support survivors of sex trafficking.

Primal Wear One Less Tee: The message is loud and clear on this long-length, preshrunk cotton women’s t-shirt ($20) from bike clothing maker Primal Wear. Ride more, drive less.
