This winter hat delivered on all fronts. First off, the made-in-Canada handcrafted quality was noticeable right out of the box. This is no one-season hat; it’s a year-after-year keeper that Tilley actually warranties for life. The fabric is thick and luxe plus the six-panel construction is solid. The interior is super comfy and busts cold efficiently. In fact, we wore this hat out in wind, rain, snow, and freezing temps (with the ear flaps down) while both hiking in Moab, Utah, and running errands at home and never felt even slightly cold or wet.
The nifty Velcro adjustment system provided a more custom fit. There’s also a clever stash pocket Velcroed into the crown of the hat perfect for your license and some cash or a credit card. The only downside we noticed was that the hat fit less snugly with the ear flaps tucked away; they provided more bulk, making the hat sit slightly higher on our head.
