Gear: TREW Gear Chariot Women’s Ski Bibs

I’ve always believed there were two types of skiers and riders—those that wear bibs and those that don’t. My own personal devotions have always fallen into the no-bib camp—until I took the TREW Gear Women’s Chariot Bib for an extended test run this winter.

Not only do they fit like a glove and hug in all the right places, these hardshell ski bibs kept me supremely warm and they also kept every last morsel of snow and ice out of my nether regions, even in the most spectacular of powder shots and crashes. The TREW Chariot bibs ($217.95, end-of-season sale) are now, hands down, my go-to ski bottom.

For starters, TREW employs a proprietary waterproof/breathable Private Reserve 3L fabric that is strong yet noticeably flexible (and quiet). The Chariot bib also delivers optimal fit of the female form with an ample length, high-set waist, articulated knees, and extended hip contour (“to accommodate strong quads without creating unsightly bagginess”). In addition, TREW’s SuperFabric hem and kick patch reinforcements afford extra protection where it’s needed most.

The Chariot bib is packed with lots of little extras, too. The lineup includes a durable and waterproof 3/4-length access zipper, heavy-duty and comfortable jacquard suspender straps, internal stretch snow gaiters with gripper elastic, boot-access hem zippers, zip handwarmer pockets, plus stash pockets at the chest and legs (including an ample cargo pocket). Oh, and did we mention the Chariot’s wildly cool, retro color options and neon color accents?

High-quality women’s ski bibs are few and far between, so hats off to TREW for delivering a solid option for the ladies—and for encouraging me to migrate to the bib camp, a new sweet spot.
