Luscious Links: Vonn Eyes Men’s DH Race, Facial Yoga, and Anker Speaks Tonite

Eyeing the Guys. Snowbunny Lindsey Vonn lays claim to nearly all the crowns in the kingdom—and now she’d like to test her mettle against the opposite sex. We’re all for it. This week, the 27-year-old downhill skiing champion (above) has asked the FIS, the sport’s governing body, for a chance to race in the men’s downhill race on November 24th in Lake Louise, Alberta—it’s the World Cup season’s speed opener. She told The New York Times this week, “I’d like to have one chance in my life to race against them. Annika Sorenstam did it in golf and paved the way for women. I’m not asking for World Cup points. I’m not asking for any of that. I just want the chance to compete.” The FIS jury is still out; the organization will announce its decision at its next meeting on November 3rd.

Facing Yoga. Forget the nip, tuck, and needle prick, according to jewelry designer and yogi Ranjana Khan, facial yoga is the road to enlightenment—and fewer wrinkles. As reported by The New York Times this week, Mumbai-born Khan (who is married to fashion designer Naeem Khan) has released a video online ($12.99) that includes moves for the face focused on the forehead, eyes, cheeks, mouth, and neck. Does it really work? According to Neil Sadick, a cosmetic surgeon and clinical professor of dermatology at Weill-Cornell Medical Center in New York who has conducted studies on facial stimulation, facial yoga does have benefits and will increase blood flow and improve muscle tone. Game to try it out? One example to help improve neck muscles and tautness: purse your lips together as if you’re going to kiss someone, look up at the sky until you feel the stretch in your neck, hold the position for 10 to 15 seconds and then release the kiss. Repeat four or five times.
